Most of the endoscopic procedures are performed on outpatient basis at the Pasadena Endoscopy Center, a state of the art, new facility furnished by the latest model Olympus endoscopes. Hospital based procedures are performed at Huntington Hospital in Pasadena.

We are available to provide services in a timely manner. Same day or next day appointments are possible in our Pasadena office. One of our doctors, the on call physician, is available for managing emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Dr. Edelman attended medical school and completed his internal medicine residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. This was followed by a 2-year fellowship in gastroenterology and liver diseases at Los Angeles County/ USC Medical Center. He joined Alliance Digestive Disease Consultants in 1982. Dr. Edelman’s practice includes all areas of gastroenterology and hepatology (liver diseases). He has a special interest in diseases of the pancreas and biliary tree (bile ducts and gallbladder). He has extensive experience with most endoscopic procedures and a special interest in ERCP He is an active member of the teaching staff at Huntington Hospital and is Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at USC. Dr. Edelman has held a number of positions of responsibility at Huntington Hospital including Chairman of the Deptartment of Medicine.

Richard E. Nickowitz, MD graduated from Cornell University Medical College in 1987 and then completed his Internal Medicine Residency at The New York Hospital /Cornell Medical Center. Subsequently he completed his Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology (Liver Disease) at the Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. He is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. His special areas of interest include inflammatory bowel disease, biliary tract disease and liver disease. Dr. Nickowitz is an attending physician at Huntington Hospital and an active member of the teaching faculty. He joined Allliance Digestive Disease Consultants in 1993.

Sassan Soltani, M.D. |

Dr. Sassan Soltani received his M.D. degree from St. Louis University where he was elected to the Medical Honor Society. He then attended the internal medicine residency program at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. In 1996 Dr. Soltani completed his gastroenterology fellowship training at UCLA. He is trained and experienced in all aspects of gastroenterology and hepatology including extensive experience in endoscopy, colonoscopy, ERCP, esophageal manometry and pH procedures. Dr. Soltani moved to Pasadena in 1997 and has been in private practice since. He is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at U.S.C. and participates in teaching of medical residents at Huntington Hospital.

Dr. Stubrin attended medical school at the University of Buenos Aires, School of Medicine. He completed a residency program in Internal Medicine and Radiology at the same institution. This was followed by a fellowship in Hepatology and Gastroenterology at the University of California, Irvine. He has been in private practice since 1980 and joined Alliance Digestive Disease Consultants in 2001.Currently he is a member of the teaching staff at Huntington Hospital and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at the University of Southern California, Keck School of Medicine. Dr. Stubrin is the Medical Director of the Pasadena Endoscopy Center.

Dr. Beblawi received his medical degree from the University Of Cairo School Of Medicine in Cairo, Egypt, in 1987. He completed a residency in Internal Medicine and a Fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles in 1995. He then received advanced training in therapeutic ERCP in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1998. Following that, he received training in Endoscopic Ultrasonography at the University of California, Irvine, in 1999. Dr.Beblawi is Board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He has extensive experience in the diagnosis and management of a wide spectrum of diseases in gastroenterology and hepatology. Peter M. Rosenberg, M.D. |

Peter M. Rosenberg, MD, graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1993. He then completed a residency in internal medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, followed by his fellowship in gastroenterology and hepatology, again at Massachusetts General Hospital. During his fellowship, Dr. Rosenberg was actively engaged in clinical research, including several clinical trials of new agents for the treatment of hepatitis B and hepatitis C. He also pursued advanced clinical training in both liver disease and pancreaticobiliary endoscopy. After completion of his fellowship in 1999, he came to southern California and began his private practice in gastroenterology and hepatology, initially in Santa Monica. He has been a member of Alliance Digestive Disease Consultants in Pasadena since 2004.

His practice covers all areas of general gastroenterology, including inflammatory bowel disease, irritable bowel syndrome, screening for colorectal cancer, and acid-peptic disease. In addition, he has a special interest in the evaluation and treatment of liver disease, including hepatitis B and C, alcoholic liver disease, hemochromatosis, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, primary biliary cirrhosis, and autoimmune hepatitis. He is active on the clinical staff and teaching faculty of Huntington Hospital.

Dr. Yang received her B.A degree from Cornell University and her M.D. from Rush University Medical School. Her Internal Medicine Residency was completed at the University of California Irvine followed by Gastroenterology Fellowship at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Her practice encompasses various areas of gastroenterology and hepatology, and she is experienced in upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, percutaneous gastrostomy tube placement, and pancreaticobiliary endoscopy (ERCP). She is an active member of the teaching faculty at Huntington Hospital. Dr. Yang is fluent in four languages including Mandarin, Taiwanese, and Spanish. She is also an accomplished pianist and a soprano soloist. Her husband Kurt Hong M.D., PhD., who also shares her passion for piano performance, is the Director of the Immunonutrition and Metabolic Research Laboratory at UCLA. They have two young daughters.
